Join the Michigan Downtown Association

 
The Michigan Downtown Association (MDA) was formed to encourage good development, redevelopment, and improvement of communities throughout Michigan, with special emphasis on downtown areas.  One of the driving forces in the recent interest in Michigan's downtowns, the MDA boasts over 200 members and holds quarterly conferences throughout the state.
 
 
 

Who can join the MDA?

 
MDA members include any person, organization, or goverment body within the State of Michigan that supports economic development, including:
 
- Downtown Development Authorities
- City, Township, and Village officials
- Business Improvement Districts
- Principal Shopping Districts
- Brownfield Redevelopment Authorities
- Local Development Financing Authorities
- Tax Increment Financing Authorities
- Consulting firms
 
 

Benefits of belonging to the MDA

 
Participation in quarterly educational seminars and other educational programs.
 
Networking opportunities with other members. 
 
Access to a ListServ for members to share knowledge, common experience, and challenges facing the downtown areas within the State.
 
Opportunities for input toward a statewide legislative agenda supported and promoted by the MDA.
 
Help with understanding the implementation of effective, comprehensive legal and financing techniques and devices to further development, particularly the use of tax increment financing.
